Amazon’s Fire TV devices are affordable, easy to find and simple to use, which makes them one of the most popular ways to watch Apollo Group TV. The app isn’t in the Amazon Appstore, so you install it with a free app called Downloader. It takes about ten minutes, once.

Which Fire TV models work

ModelWorks with Apollo Group TV?
Fire TV Stick 4K MaxYes, on Fire OS, and supports 4K channels

Amazon is moving its Fire TV Sticks to a new system called Vega OS, and has said all future Fire TV Sticks will run it. Vega OS devices can only install apps from the Amazon Appstore, so they can’t run the app. Because the new 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K shares its name with older Fire OS models, check the system before you buy or set up. Our article on Fire TV and Vega OS explains how to tell.

How setup works

  1. Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore.
  2. Turn on Developer options by pressing your device name seven times in Settings → My Fire TV → About.
  3. Allow Downloader to install unknown apps.
  4. Enter the download link or code from your welcome email in Downloader and install the app.
  5. Sign in with your login details.

The Firestick setup guide has screenshots for every step.

Getting the best from a Firestick

  • Use the 4K Max or a Fire OS 4K model for 4K channels and a faster interface.
  • Add an Ethernet adapter for live sport; it plugs into the stick’s power port.
  • Keep storage free. Uninstall apps you don’t use and clear the app cache now and then.
  • Restart the stick weekly from Settings → My Fire TV → Restart.

Firestick questions

How do I know if my Fire TV runs Fire OS?

Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About and look at the software version. If it mentions Vega OS, the device can’t install the app. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the 2026 Fire TV Stick HD and 4K run Vega OS.

Is turning on Developer options safe?

Yes. It only allows the apps you choose, like Downloader, to install apps. Install only from links you trust.

Do I have to reinstall when I renew?

No. The app stays installed and your login keeps working when you renew.
